Open Studios

Every year in early September, the artists that are part of the Eden Valley Artistic Network hold an Open Studios Event.

All across Cumbria artists open up their studios or gather together in churches, community halls or art centres to exhibit their work and talk to visitors about their processes.
This year I am exhibiting again with Nanette Madan. But this year, Rachel Metcalfe has joined us. In Florence Arts Centre cafe and corridor there is a stunning exhibition of work by the three of us. All different styles but a strong link is our love of colour and our love of landscape and sense of place.
Rachel walks through the fells absorbing the atmosphere of the wild places and produces vibrant abstract landscapes.
Nanette peppers her rich landscapes with animals and characters that hint at her Swedish heritage and folklore.
My landscapes are bold, colourful, representations of well-loved Lake District views and gentle watercolours of streets and buildings.
The exhibition will stay up until the end of September. We will all be around next weekend on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th, and Sunday 17th Sept.
We have run four successful workshops with two more to go next weekend. There are still places available and can be booked through the Florence Arts Centre Website.
Rachel is running a session on Expressive Ink and Watercolour Washes.
Nanette is running a session on Vases from sculpted wet felt.
What a Wonderful Week!
